Postpartum & Newborn
Congratulations on your new baby!
We’re happy to support you and your baby during this special first year. As your health plan, we want to remind you that your health matters too. To care for your baby, you also need to take care of yourself.
As a WellCare member, you have access to postpartum benefits and services designed to support the health of both you and your newborn.
Thanks to NC Medicaid coverage, you can continue receiving Medicaid benefits for 12 months after giving birth. This extended coverage ensures you have continued access to the care and support you need during this important time.
If you have any questions or need help with accessing services, we're here for you! If you need additional information about postpartum self-care, birth control, or breastfeeding, be sure to visit Start Smart for Your Baby for helpful resources and guidance.
