You Could Be a Lifesaver: Learn CPR for Your Baby
You’ve probably seen someone doing CPR in a movie to save a life. It may seem dramatic, but learning infant CPR could really help save your baby in an emergency.
What Is CPR?
CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It’s used when a person stops breathing, their heart stops beating, or both.
Babies usually need CPR because of breathing problems, such as:
- Choking
- Accidents
- Drowning
- Breathing in smoke
- A bad asthma attack
Take a CPR Class
The best way to learn is to take a CPR class. Look for one that teaches infant CPR—it’s not the same as CPR for adults. You can take a class in person or online.

Be Ready
Hopefully, you’ll never need to use CPR on your baby. But learning it now can help you stay calm and act quickly if there’s ever an emergency. Being prepared could save a life.
