WellCare of North Carolina Earns NCQA Health Plan Accreditation for Medicaid HMO

WellCare of North Carolina is proud to announce it has earned Accredited status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its Medicaid HMO plan. This recognition honors health plans that meet or exceed NCQA’s stringent requirements for consumer protection, clinical quality, and quality improvement.

Earning NCQA Accreditation reflects WellCare’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, person-focused care and meeting rigorous national standards for service and clinical performance.

NCQA Health Plan Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that assesses how well a health plan delivers high-quality care and services, including access to care, member satisfaction, and clinical outcomes. It is one of the most comprehensive and widely respected accreditations in the healthcare industry.

“NCQA Accreditation is a trusted seal of approval, and this achievement reinforces our mission to improve the health and well-being of our members across North Carolina,” said Troy Hildreth, CEO.

To earn accreditation, WellCare of North Carolina underwent a thorough evaluation of its quality improvement initiatives, clinical performance, and member experience. This included review of standardized performance metrics such as Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) and Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®), along with additional data sources and documentation submitted to demonstrate compliance with NCQA’s standards. The results reflected WellCare’s strong performance in key areas, including care coordination, timely access to services, and member engagement.

This achievement enhances WellCare’s reputation as a trusted Medicaid partner, strengthens our ability to serve members with excellence, and reinforces our long-term commitment to quality, accountability, and member-focused care.

The accreditation went into effect on April 21, 2025, and is valid through April 21, 2028. For more information about NCQA Accreditation, visit www.ncqa.org.
